Behind the Scenes: Wizard of Oz!

While we've taken a bit of a hiatus from our blog, our Young Empowered Players students have been hard at work on their full-length production, the Wizard of Oz!! Take an inside look at rehearsals and hear from Josh, one of our Student Arts Mentors:

♪We’re off to see the wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz!♪

This fall, I’ve been working with four other Student Arts Mentors as we assist during rehearsals for the Wizard of oz. Every Sunday, children from ages 5-11 come to the St. Nicholas Learning Center to rehearse for The Wizard of Oz. When the doors open, the cast is smiling and eager to enter the Emerald City. They are enthusiastic and ready to learn choreography, blocking, and all the aspects of theater. It has been incredible to watch them passionately transform into their characters, try out new ideas, and overcome their nervousness. They’ve also learned how to work together as a team to tell a story for an audience. In the next few weeks, they will work together with other students to help design lights and sound cues.

I would whole-heartedly recommend that you come to see The Wizard of Oz on December 10th at 3:00 P.M. at the Carysbrook Performing Arts Center. You will not be disappointed.
